Privacy Policy
Draft prepared October 7, 2026 · Applies to the current EasyMind website prototype
This policy explains what the EasyMind prototype processes, what happens when you use speech features, and the choices available to you. EasyMind is an unregistered independent project maintained by an individual (“the maintainer,” “EasyMind,” “we,” or “us”); there is no registered company or separate corporate entity. Questions or privacy requests: there is no direct contact email or form configured yet. The maintainer should publish a contact method before launch or before collecting personal information. Do not send sensitive information through an unverified channel.
1. What this prototype does today
The current prototype is a static learning catalog with optional local profiles, progress, classes, assignments, and interactive lesson answers. These records are stored in this browser using local storage and are not uploaded by this prototype. Profiles are not authenticated accounts. The class code, teacher dashboard, answer history, and tab-presence signal only work among profiles and EasyMind tabs in this same browser. The tab signal reports whether a page appears open and visible/focused; it cannot show whether a learner is paying attention. Lesson responses, hints, answer reveals, and progress remain on this device until local data is cleared. The sample leaderboard remains illustrative; it is not a live ranking system. The page does not use analytics or advertising trackers.
Lesson hints use fixed, hard-coded rules in the page. They do not call an AI provider, send prompts, or keep a chat history. Lesson answer checks and teacher-created assignment checks run in the browser. If a future version adds networked accounts, hosted assignments, or a remote tutor, this policy must be updated before that feature launches.
2. Information processed when the site loads
When you request a website, the hosting and delivery provider may receive routine connection data such as your IP address, request time, requested page or asset, browser and device details, and security signals. Web hosts use such information to deliver the site, prevent abuse, troubleshoot errors, and protect infrastructure. EasyMind has not yet been deployed or configured with a production host, so the provider, precise log fields, access, and retention period are not determined yet, because EasyMind has not been deployed. Once a host is selected, this policy should name the provider and link its privacy information.
The current prototype uses no advertising pixels, analytics package, account system, or EasyMind tracking cookies. Your browser may keep ordinary network or site caches. The language pair and text currently remain in the open page only; the prototype does not save them to an EasyMind account or browser storage.
3. Text to speech and speech recognition
Text to speech uses your browser’s or device’s speech service to read text you enter aloud in the language you are learning. The available voices and their processing depend on the device, operating system, selected voice, and browser. Some speech voices can rely on a remote provider, and the text you ask a voice to read may be processed by the browser, device, or selected voice provider. EasyMind does not receive the audio output in this prototype.
Speech recognition starts only after you press the microphone button and grant browser permission. To minimize collection, EasyMind requests local-only recognition and does not fall back to a server-based speech service. If the browser does not expose an on-device mode, or the device lacks a local language pack, recognition stays unavailable. When supported, the browser returns recognized words to the open page; EasyMind does not upload or save the recording or transcript. Check your browser settings before speaking. You can decline microphone permission and type instead. Local speech features may be unavailable for many languages or devices.
Do not speak names, private conversations, health information, passwords, or other sensitive personal information into the prototype. If a future version sends audio or transcripts to EasyMind or another provider, we will explain that flow and obtain any required choice before enabling it.
4. Purposes and legal basis
We use information to provide the requested page and speech interaction, maintain site security, respond to privacy requests, and meet legal duties. Where privacy laws require a lawful basis, the basis will depend on the feature and location: providing a feature you request, our legitimate interest in securing and maintaining the service, consent where required (including microphone access), or a legal obligation. No particular jurisdiction has been selected for this unregistered prototype.
5. Service providers and sharing
We do not sell personal information in this prototype, use targeted advertising, or share learning scores for advertising. Website hosting and the browser/device speech service may process information as described above. The speech provider is selected by your browser or operating system, not by EasyMind. We do not control its handling; review its privacy notice.
We may disclose information when required by law, to protect people or the service from fraud or abuse, or as part of a business transfer, subject to applicable law. If a future service provider receives prompts, audio, transcripts, or account records, we will identify the provider and purpose in an updated policy before the feature launches.
6. Children and families
The prototype does not ask for or store a visitor’s age, and the maintainer has not set a minimum age. Parents and guardians should supervise a child’s use, especially before microphone use. The hosting provider can process routine connection data. Speech recognition is requested in on-device mode only; if the browser cannot keep recognition local, the feature remains off. Text to speech can rely on a device or browser voice provider. A parent or guardian can decline microphone access and use text input instead. If EasyMind later adds accounts or collects personal information from children under 13, the maintainer will first assess and implement any applicable notice, consent, and parental-rights requirements. COPPA can apply to services directed to children under 13 and to operators with actual knowledge they are collecting personal information from a child under 13.
7. Retention and security
EasyMind does not receive or retain local profiles, lesson answers, hint history, assignments, or tab-presence records on a server in this prototype. The browser keeps these records in local storage until the user clears them using the profile controls or clears browser site data. Hosting security logs may be retained by the eventual hosting provider under its settings and contract; the actual period is not yet known because no production host has been selected. We use reasonable safeguards appropriate to the service, but no website or transmission can be guaranteed completely secure. We will describe any production retention limits once hosting and logging are configured.
8. Your choices and privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, receive a copy of, or restrict certain personal information; object to certain uses; withdraw consent; or complain to a privacy regulator. You can deny microphone permission, stop speaking, or use text input. To make a privacy request, contact no direct contact channel has been configured yet and tell us which request you are making. We may need to verify identity or authority before responding. Profiles are local browser records, not secure accounts. Use the profile controls to clear EasyMind data from this browser or clear the browser site data. This does not delete the same browser data from other devices because no remote copy is created.
9. International access and policy changes
You may access EasyMind from different countries. Site hosting and browser speech services may process information in countries other than yours, subject to the relevant provider’s practices and applicable law. We will update this section with the actual hosting and service locations before launch. We will post a new effective date when this policy changes materially and provide any notice or choice required by law.
